Springfield part 2

Today we enjoyed our second day in Springfield , Mo building with their local Habitat for Humanity group. This was our 5th build day on the trip which means we are actually half of the way through our build days, which actually makes me a bit sad. Even though they haven’t been easy days I always enjoy them, and the diversity of work we get to do on them.
Today the group I was working with was working on rehabbing a house habitat had bought, gutted, and is preparing for a new family. We cased out and painted windows, and straightened and sealed the fence in the back. It’s work that I hevent really done since I stopped working for RM Quinn back in college, and while I enjoyed getting my hands ditrty today, doing all of this work in the stifiling heat reminded me how much I like my job back in my airconditioned office back in Chuch town.
After the build day we had dinner (donated chipotle again mmmmmmmm), just about half of us went to a Springfield Cardinals minor league baseball game. One of our riders had a friend who just got called up on the team who got us some free tickets, which was nice. I also was able to meet up with a good friend of mine fron highschool, Chris, who happened to be in town for a dental school rural rotation. The game was fantastic. I don’t think I have ever had a more sucessful game.First our seats were great, also one of the other riders and I both got free tshirts. Another of our riders caught a foul ball. The cardinals won in the bottom of the 9th with a two run homer, and I think we may have embarased our riders friend with the ammount we cheered for him. The rest of the stadium was on the more mellow side of things, but our group was really loud particularly whenever our rifts friend came up to bat. It was great.
Tomorrow we are off to Joplin Mo. 80 miles of terrible heat, and a wakeup of 5am. Sounds like fun, right?
