Somehow I’ve managed to get ten weeks off this summer to bike across the country. This blog is my attempt to share this adventure with you.
This summer I will be taking a short and very thankfully, temporary leave from my job in Charleston S.C. to spend ten weeks riding a bike that I built 3,703 miles from Boston Massachusetts, to Santa Barbra California. I’ll be riding with a group of 33 other individuals, all with the intention of combating the problem of the lack of affordable housing across the country. The whole trip is being put together by an organization called Bike & Build, an awesome organization that seeks to both increase awareness of the problem of the lack of decent affordable housing and to help remedy that lack in communities all across America.
This blog will be my way of sharing this adventure with everyone who won’t be able to make the ride with me. Since I won’t be taking a computer on the road with me, I’ll be updating this whenever I can from my phone. I fully expect that this will mean that while my entries will be full of my requisite typos and misspelling, they may end up being a bit short on the philosophical pandering. That said, I’m really looking forward to this adventure this summer, and honestly through my connection with you on this blog, I hope that maybe you are a little bit excited as well.
